Vegan diets are becoming more popular in the UK. There are a number of reasons for this, from environmental to health to ethical, and demand for animal-free food is on the rise. Equally, we are living busy, on-the-go lifestyles, which means the need for convenient, meat-free meals is growing.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

A-maize-ing growth<\/strong><\/p>\n

Enter allplants<\/em>, a company built on the passion of its two founders \u2013 JP and Alex \u2013 that specialises in delicious plant-based food. Delivered straight to customers\u2019 doors, allplants\u2019<\/em> microwavable meals have soared in popularity, which has seen the business outgrow its original premises.<\/p>\n

Thyme for some fresh air<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moving to a new factory gave allplants<\/em> the chance to fit out the building as sustainably as possible \u2013 for example, all the desks are made from locally sourced, sustainable wood. When we were tasked with delivering the project, we knew that finding the right ventilation system for the development kitchen would be a one of our major tasks.<\/p>\n

With the products being microwavable food, the traditional ventilation set-up of a commercial kitchen was far greater than what was required. Given allplants\u2019<\/em> dedication to sustainability, the system had to be as energy efficient as possible, and the system they had originally been quoted was far too powerful for what they needed. This is why is it vital to calculate what ventilation rate is actually required, to prevent wasted energy and expense.<\/p>\n

Lettuce find the answer<\/strong><\/p>\n

We knew that we needed to supply a ventilation system that was supremely energy efficient, but could also deliver the necessary level of performance to keep the kitchen free from contaminants. With this in mind, we opted for Elta\u2019s Skyflow SSRL EC fan, which has the added bonus of being fully ErP compliant. Equipped with an EC motor with an integral potentiometer commissioning device as standard, its fan speed can be controlled through a simple dial.<\/p>\n

For a company such as allplants,<\/em> that places sustainability at the heart of what it does, getting the ventilation system right is critical. We\u2019ve seen that legislation is starting to enforce increasingly stringent requirements on energy efficiency, so matching a fan to the specific needs of an application, rather than just specifying the most powerful product available, is really important. Solutions which provide a degree of control to the end user, such as the Skyflow SSRL, can make a significant contribution to the overall energy credentials of a building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
